The mission of Illumination Foundation is to disrupt the cycle of homelessness.

Housing

LifeArk™

LifeArk is a new modular-manufactured housing concept which is a cost-effective, scalable, and environmentally responsible solution to the problem of affordable housing.

They are infinitely configurable as units with modular building blocks that click together to build a house or a community.

LifeArk units also have built-in solar and off-grid capability, and are made of recycled materials, highly energy efficient, and are 100% recyclable. Illumination Foundation plans to use LifeArk modular housing in collaboration with select cities. The first project, LifeArk El Monte, opened in April 2022.

LifeArk Modular Housing Innovation

Innovations that disrupt conventional construction.

  • Engineered plastic (HDPE) is a new material recently certified for use in building housing.

  • Mass production through rotational-molding process which can easily be scaled to meet increased production demand.

  • Minimum on-site construction due to modular system and lightweight components compared to steel or other materials.

  • Can be assembled and disassembled with minimum manpower, allowing for repurposing of modules when no longer needed as shelter.

  • Infinite floor plan configurations possible with each module measuring just 8 feet by 8 feet.
